30 Hour Famine

Starting Friday night April 27th-all day Saturday the 28th we’ll be joining 8 churches to raise awareness about world hunger. But we’re also going to do something about it. $1 can feed someone for a day. You can save lives by raising money for this event. We’ll be staying overnight in Monroe park in, you guessed it, Monroe, OH. We’ll sleep outside and you’ll have to make cardboard structures. Did I mention we won’t be eating for 30 hours? It’s all so we can feel what starving, homeless people feel everyday. We’ll also pack relief meals (we’re shooting for 10,000!) that will be shipped directly to a situation where people are in need of food. So take part, experience hunger, share your story with your friends, & use it to share the Gospel!

Bring your own cardboard, pillow, & sleeping bag/blanket. Also bring a couple big containers of juice because your last meal until Sat. night will be lunch on Friday. Saturday we will do service projects all day and return to Monroe United Methodist Church for a closing ceremony @ 6pm. Parents are invited to come, then we will eat and you are dismissed afterwards (around 7:15pm.)

The park is the Monroe Community Park. Take Cincy-Dayton Rd. and cross 63. Go past the city building and the park entrance will be on your left.

Pancake Breakfast/ Art Auction

On Easter Sunday morning we’ll have a pancake breakfast and art auction. We are asking for art from anyone, to show off how awesome you guys are, and to help us make a big impact during the 30 Hour Famine.
Your art can be anything: a photograph, a poem, a song, a drawing, a painting, it can be made from tin foil, or an old door knob with a piece of rope around it. Be creative and we’ll get an explanation of the art & a picture of you to put beside it so people can get to know us better.
We need you all to be at church at 9:00 that Sunday so we can set things up and start getting the food ready to serve. Its going to be awesome. Use it as an opportunity to invite your parents, friends, or family and encourage them to stay for 2nd service @ 11.

Confirmation Session 6

Our third session is Wednesday, Feb. 1 6:30-7:30pm in the youth room. We’ll be talking about worship. What is it, how have people done it in the past, & why we do some of the things we do. Also we’ll talk about baptism and communion and how symbolic and important they are to Christian life.

March 2 & 3rd at the Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio. It is a big conference of youth where you get to see skits, hear music, and learn about the power in that comes from knowing about Jesus and what His life on earth meant. You’ll also have opportunities to make an impact in friends and family members lives as well as in the city. It is an awesome experience. it goes Friday night, then we’ll come home and sleep in our own beds, and then meet early in the morn to go back up for all day Saturday.

Everyone is welcome (grades 6-12)
@ 5:30 to 7:30pm.
Getting back to the parables of Jesus. No better way to learn than study what the Dude Himself said!

Remember, this is a time to relax, be with friends, & have some fun. You can play on the air hockey table, kick it old school with some N64 games, get a board game going, some of us can go up to the gym and play soccer, basketball, 4square, or just toss a football around, or you can simply sit around and talk. We take a few minutes and to look at who God really is.

Join us, bring a friend It is a laid back atmosphere where you can feel free to ask questions or just chew on the information yourself.

Youth Band

If you play an instrument or sing come join us for youth band! We’re getting some songs down! We’ll do some in worship sometime & find other good ways to use music to reach out. Tuesday nights from 7-8pm in the sanctuary.

Lock-In

Friday, Feb. 3 9:00pm- 8:00am on Saturday here at Christ Church. We stay up all night, play games, & have an opportunity to hear the Gospel. A great time to invite friends!

Sunday, Jan. 29th 2:30-5:00pm meet @ the church. Then we’ll head over to Oxford. Each student must have a copy of their insurance card & their parent must fill out a waiver. The waiver can be found on the Adult page of the youth website. Cost is $8 a person for students & $9 for adults. Sign up by Brian’s office if interested.
